With my growing list of hobbies, I decided to mark my territory and designate a work space in the house just for moi (and all the STUFF i've accumulated). I've been dreaming of having a craft room for quite some time and the hubby promised to build me a fancy space in our unfinished basement, but that is a ways away from materializing. So until then, I have hijacked one of the spare bedrooms on our top floor. This is what it looks like at the moment:
One royal mess. Over time, this room has become a dumping ground for just about everything. But not for long.
In addition to creating a work area, I need to figure out storage solutions for all of the following:
- craft supplies
- painting supplies
- interior design books, drafting tools, samples
- sewing supplies
To add to the challenge, I need to do this as cheaply as possible. Oh, and I can only use half the room because the other half is full of exercise equipment (maybe if I stare at it long enough, I'll get in shape)
First off, some open shelves to display my bright collection of thread spools. My dad recently retired from the clothing business and I became heir to hundreds of spools of thread (and a TON of other supplies) when he closed up shop.
We had some wood strapping lying around, so I bought simple brackets ($1 each!) and the hubby put up 2 shelves in a jiffy.
I organized the spools by color. And then I drooled. Soooooo purdyyyyyy!!! Hue are my sunshine, my only sunshine. Hue make me happy, when skies are grey.
More craft room updates coming soon!
